Above Average Temps Prevail Across Illinois

Above average temperatures prevailed last week. There were 5.1 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending Sunday. Statewide, the average temperature was 79.3 degrees, 2.7 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 1.80 inches, 0.82 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 12 percent very short, 21 percent short, 59 percent adequate, and 8 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 7 percent very short, 25 percent short, 64 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus.

Corn silking jumped to 83 percent, compared to 85 percent for the 5-year average. Corn condition was rated at 3 percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 26 percent fair, 49 percent good, and 14 percent excellent.

Soybeans blooming reached 77 percent, compared with 74 percent last year. Soybeans setting pods was at 33 percent, compared to 30 percent last year. Soybean condition was rated 4 percent very poor, 10 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 46 percent good, and 13 percent excellent.

Pasture and range condition was rated at 4 percent very poor, 13 percent poor, 32 percent fair, 43 percent good, and 8 percent excellent.
