Illinois Ag Connection - 06/26/2017

Ann Friederichs, former executive director of the Davenport Schools Foundation and a previous owner of a local insurance firm, has been named business advisor at the Illinois Small Business Development Center (SBDC) based at Western Illinois University's Quad Cities campus.

Friederichs has previously been an owner and agent for Karwath Insurance Inc. in Davenport, a producer/agent for Nelson Brothers Agency in Bettendorf and was president of the Vera French Foundation. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Colorado State University.

According to Jim Boyd, SBDC director, Friederichs will provide confidential one-on-one counseling in the areas of business start-up, expansion, acquisition and sale. She will also assist with business planning, marketing, record keeping and financial analysis. In addition to one-on-one counseling, she will present education and training at the request of organizations and small businesses.

"We're pleased to have Ann join our team at the Illinois SBDC-ITC at WIU-QC," said Boyd. "With her extensive contacts in the Quad Cities community, she'll be able to assist small businesses with their start-up and growth plans. She comes with a wealth of experience, not only in the private sector, but the public sector as well. With the addition of Ann to our staff, we look forward to the Illinois SBDC-ITC being an integral part of the small-business landscape in the Quad Cities and surrounding Illinois counties."
