Secker Selected as 2019 Pork Ambassador
Illinois Ag Connection - 02/18/2019

Each year the Illinois Pork Producers Association (IPPA) recruits for a summer internship. Cooper Secker, of Waterloo, has been selected as the 2019 Pork Ambassador. He will be inducted during the 2019 Pork Expo.

Secker is currently a junior at the University of Arkansas, in Fayetteville, Ark., where he is obtaining a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Leadership. He is also a member of the livestock judging team. Prior to transferring to U of A, he completed an associate degree in agriculture business at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.

"I am beyond excited to serve as the 2019 Illinois Pork Ambassador,” says Secker. "I will bring as much as I can to this position while I continue learning and educating others about the pork industry.”

Secker is not new to the pork industry, as he has already been raising and selling elite Berkshire pigs for 10 years now. He is an entrepreneur who used his passion for pigs as an avenue to begin a business. Cooper sells Berkshire pork to local restaurants in the St. Louis area and show pigs to youth across the state, and beyond.

The pork industry has been a passion of his since he was a child. "I have been extremely fortunate to work with and learn from some of the leading professionals in the show pig industry,” he shares. "Along with pigs, my passions include educating youth and consumers about the swine industry as well as learning more about agriculture every day.”

IPPA is looking forward to working with Cooper. He will begin his duties in the Springfield office in May.
