Illinois Corn and Soybean Harvests Nearing Completion

There were 3.1 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending Sunday. Statewide, the average temperature was 36.6 degrees, 7.0 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.80 inches, 0.08 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 4 percent short, 70 percent adequate, and 26 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 1 percent very short, 12 percent short, 68 percent adequate, and 19 percent surplus.

Corn harvested was 96 percent complete, compared to 89 percent last year.

Soybean harvest was 94 percent complete, compared to 95 percent last year. Sorghum harvested was at 92 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 90 percent.

Winter wheat planted was at 90 percent, compared to 94 percent last year. Winter wheat emerged was at 74 percent, compared to 83 percent last year. Winter wheat condition was 7 percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 34 percent fair, 44 percent good, and 7 percent excellent.
