Social Entrepreneurship Salon to Kick Off Sept. 20
Illinois Ag Connection - 09/19/2017
The Western Illinois University-Quad Cities Social Entrepreneurship Salon will present "Community Development: Strategic Visioning," at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 20 on the WIU-QC campus, the first in a series of salons to be held throughout the academic year.
The event is free and open to the public and will be held in Riverfront Hall Rooms 103/104. Refreshments will be provided.
Presenters will include faculty and staff from WIU-QC's master's degree program in community and economic development (CED), along with community representatives from the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce and from Oregon, IL.
This year's series, co-sponsored by Western's College of Arts and Science and College of Business and Technology, will have the overall theme of "Community" for 2017-2018. According to James Rabchuk, physics professor and WIU-QC College of Arts
and Sciences assistant dean, the Social Entrepreneurship Salon was established at WIU-QC in 2016 to explore ways that entrepreneurship can lead to creative solutions that stabilize and grow communities.
"We're exploring the ways in which entrepreneurship can deliberately and positively impact a community's economic, cultural, social, and environmental well-being," Rabchuk said.
The next salon is set for Wednesday, Nov. 15. Future salons will focus on communities for seniors and community foundations. For more information, contact Rabchuk at (309) 762-7095, ext. 62352 of ja-rabchuk@wiu.edu; visit the Salon's web page; or
follow the WIU QC Social Entrepreneurship Salon page on Facebook.
